Another winter project completed

Nau mai, hoki mai and welcome back!

Things are busy at our whare.  School work (including this project), illness, appointments, TKD and planning ahead.

The kids were all vomiting this week.  We couldn't understand how they could possibly be ill considering they had been on holiday from St John, Cubs and Scouts.  The only way they could have caught anything would be at TKD.  And it turns out, that's where it happened.  The first one to be ill was tama 2.  Then tama 1.  It only lasted 24 hours for them.  Tama 4 had it at the same time as tamāhine 1, and although he bounced back by the next day, it was a different story for tamāhine 1.  She took probably three days overall.

The only ones not to have it were tama 3 and tama 5.

We still persevered with our project of the week though.
It's a very simple process.  Measure .... cut ... screw ...
glue ...
Take a test run in the dining area ....
Stain ...
And stain again...
Allow to dry ...
And here it is.

Will we make chairs?  Short answer:  I don't know.  At the moment, we can make do with what we have.

For a long time now, I have wanted a table made by us; for us.  It has been my wish to have a table that we can dent and scratch as we grow as a family.  The marks made, are our marks.

By the time we finish our whare, the table will look beautiful.

Thanks for dropping by

  1. That table looks smashing and I so agree over the marks. They all tell a story.

    1. Thank you so much! It cost pittance compared to store-bought - but it has much greater value, lol ;)
How kind of you to leave a comment. I truly appreciate it.
