End of term holiday project

Nau mai, hoki mai and welcome back!

The gauntlet was laid down for the eldest three:  Build a stationery cupboard for our classroom.

At this time of year, children who attend 'regular' school, commence Term 2 school holidays.  There are many holiday activities on offer in and around the city.  These activities prove very popular.  So, I'm looking at this as our Romankids Homeschool Holiday Activity.

Nah!  Not really!  Quite simply, we've planned this since building the room, and now we have some time to do it.

Firstly, let's see where the cupboard will be located:
The above bookcase is just oozing over with books etc.
You may notice the time on the clock?  It's almost midday.  Saturday.  The morning was spent in the shed measuring, cutting and laying out the pieces before bringing everything over to the house.  I couldn't get any photos of the morning work because I was busy inside the house.  Not to worry, another cupboard (similar to the one the kids are making now), will be built for the opposite corner - where the clock is.

 To avoid bowing ...
Whaiāipo showed how it's done

By Saturday evening, we brought it back to the classroom to try it in place.
Whaiāipo wanted to be sure there was a 25mm gap
between the right side of the cupboard and the wall.
This allows for the phone line which comes through the wall.

There is. :)

So, that's where things are at on Saturday night.

Sunday, my niece Lizzie arrived to collect her furniture that we stored in the shed for her while she returned to Kuwait last year.  Whaiāipo even arose early to clean her couches, and check everything was in order.

The project will continue later in the week.

Thanks for dropping by
