Hari huritau ki a whaiāipo

Nau mai, hoki mai and welcome back !!!

I don't know about y'all, but a tradition we have in our house is no school on birthdays.  Today whaiāipo turned 47.  Yep, we're pretty old for having such a young whānau but we don't spend our time worrying about that.

Today was a celebration to honour whaiāipo and I'm rather proud of the children's efforts.
The children have created kāri huritau, banners and streamers, and have their own musical rendition of Happy Birthday to play.  {That'll be interesting.  According to tamāhine 2, daddy is going to love it.:-)}  I've made a cake and birthday kai is all ready to go as soon as whaiāipo gets home.  It's all going to be a bit of a rush when he gets in the door as we'll have to head off to St John by 5.30pm.

Something special happened today too - we had snow!!!  By national standards it was nothing, but for us it was a major big deal.  It only lasted 5-10 minutes at a stretch, but we would have had a good dusting at least four times.
Okay, so the above photo doesn't exactly show snow, but tamāhine 1 looked so good in this candid shot that I threw it in anyway, hee hee  :-)

Thanks for dropping by
